I am not going near facebook this weekend. All of my hippy friends are at or playing at the "Gathering of the Vibes" in Bridgeport, CT and I already can't stand the banter. Twiddle-fam, Fam-Moe-ly are common terms. I wish my friends the Cosmic Dust Bunnies all the best playing there, but goddamn I hate festivals of this type. Ugh

Dude, I just left this morning and I was staying like 15 minutes from Bridgeport. My stepdad wanted to go this. Glad we didn't stay any longer.

Here's a guitar, and some joints. Chill, K? Says the guy who was playing at a hippie jam fest last weekend... *runs* :) I'm a drummer, and I can't stand drum circles because it's almost invariably just high people hitting stuff randomly.
I honestly can't stand the full-on crunchy hippie vibe either, because the hypocrisy just kills me: "Down with consumerism!" How's that new i-phone there, chief? "Run your car on veggie oil!" Hey, ah, you know your smoldering 300D has clogged injectors, is getting 10mpg, and runs on 3 cylinders, right?

so freaking true. Most of these kids, ESPECIALLY in CT are on some sort of trust fund anyhow. Lots of brandy new Volvos and Subarus there. I am a bass player, but just never got into this. Jazz, punk rock, alt-rock, even some country here and there, not to mention the classical side of my training.

Hippie jams can be fun if you're playing with some good folks, and the crowd tends to love it. Usually though, if I get roped in to them, I inevitably just have to do my John Bonham impression & lay down really loud straight time because everyone's so far off in outer space and will rush the shit out of it given the chance.

I'm a bassist too! At least I were until I became bassless. Gonna be getting one soon and starting a youtube channel for stupid crap I think sounds cool

ha never go bass-less. I dont play around at all anymore but I still have 2 '72 or so Ampeg SVT's with 8x10 cabs, and Ampeg B-15T, a Rickenbacker, Guild, Fender, Gibson, Washburn and a Hofner!

Damn that's a mighty fine collection there! I'd love to get my hands on a nice Rickenbacker but right now I'd settle for an Ibanez
Actually I've only owned Ibanez basses. Had an ATK400 (tits) and an SRX700 (not my old ATK but w/evs)

SRs are nice (though I stick to 4-stringers for personal reasons) but they ain't got shit on that old ATK. I kick myself on a regular basis for getting rid of that thing.
Ibanez makes consistently solid axes; probably the biggest reason I've been a repeat buyer.

um yeah its nice. Was a factory prototype for the 4003. Bought it for the gorgeous blond wood, when I pulled the pickguard I found the do not remove from factory stickers. Bought for 500 bucks 15 years ago!

Sounds like Santa Fe Hippies. Instead of trust funds its baby boomers retiring and "reconnecting with mother nature" but driving Prius, Volvos and Subarus.
